AQUA2024, that took place 26-30 August in Copenhagen Denmark attracted more than 4000 visitors from the global aquaculture industry. As this combined conference and trade show comes to an end today we look back over the last week with pride at our achievements in promoting the SAFE project and circular economy approaches. In addition to sharing a triple stand at a prime location at the trade show with five other EU projects, SAFE partners gave numerous presentations at the conference about their activities in the project.
Among them were:
- Luiz Claudio Navarro from CIIMAR who presented “Measurement of European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) in the rearing environment by images taken by cameras above RAS tanks” in the Precision farming session.
- Wesley Malcorps from STIR who presented “Enhancing resilience of the European seafood market through a sustainable growth framework for aquaculture” in the Sustainability indicators, energy use and certification session.
- Remigiusz Panicz from ZUT who presented “A full-scale sequestration of sediments from common carp (Cyprinus carpio l.) farm improves biodiversity of the aquatic environment and sets farmers on the circularity path” in the Circular approach session.
- Piotr Eljasik from ZUT who presented “Co-farming watercress (Nasturtium officinale) and duckweed (Lemna minor) to enhance common carp (Cyprinus carpio) production” in the Pond aquaculture session.
The participation at the stand promoted a circular economy approach for freshwater aquaculture to visitors from all over the world representing primarily academia and industry but also administrations, policymakers, and consumers.
Next year’s event, Aquaculture Europe 2025, will be held in Valencia Spain.
