Pond in Poland

One of the SAFE (SmartAqua4FuturE) ambitions is to understand the barriers and drivers around expansion of freshwater aquaculture in EU. Last week Stirling University and the West Pomeranian University of Technology (ZUT) in Szczecin visited southern Poland, conducting Value Chain Analysis surveying with common carp farmers in the area with around 400-year old tradition of carp husbandry.
Carp farmers shared interesting observations around current market trends and environmental issues. They were extremely proud of the services they are providing to the local community and are motivated to continue farming in these challenging times.

Big thanks to our colleagues from Polish Academy of Sciences Institute of Ichthyobiology and Aquaculture in Gołysz for helping us reach the stakeholders!

Results will be made available here on the website once they are ready.
