The kick-off meeting of the SAFE project, “SmartAqua4FuturE,” was held on November 8th and 9th, 2022 at the University of Galway in Ireland. All 13 SAFE consortium members representing 9 European countries were present. The members consists of 6 research and technology organizations, 6 small and medium-sized businesses, and 1 non-profit organization.
The meeting was the first opportunity to meet face to face and discuss the roadmap for the project, the upcoming tasks, and answer any outstanding questions.
The goal of this four-year project is to reverse the decline in freshwater aquaculture in the EU by implementing circular economy models that decrease emissions, minimize harm to biodiversity, support local production with sustainable feed ingredients, increase profitability and create new jobs and everyone is excited to get started.
